| Master violin maker
Karl Hofner founded his own stringed instrument company in Schonbach Germany
in 1887. With a reputation for quality, craftsmanship and innovation, Hofner
soon became the largest manufacturer of stringed instruments in Germany.
In 1950, new production
facilities for the more than 300 Hofner employees were built in Bubenreuth
and Hofner's product range expanded beyond their traditional classical
instruments to include the recently invented electrically amplified semi-acoustic
bass.
The limited issue "Cavern" reissue
bass pictured above arrived at our store a couple of weeks ago and is a
replica of the original bass that Paul McCartney picked up when the Beatles
were still doing cover tunes in small clubs in Germany and Britain! This
bass features the classic hollowbody construction, double neck pickup configuration,
Cremona sunburst finish and older Hofner peghead logo. |
