Oliver Apitius hand-builds mandolins near Shelburne, Ontario and his instruments are known worldwide for their high quality.
The Apitius Rosine model, based on Bill Monroe's 1923 Gibson F-5 LLoyd Loar mandolin, features a hand-carved AAA-Grade German Spruce top, aged for 15 years. The hand-carved back and hand-bent sides are highly figured flame maple. The ebony fingerboard has a 7.5 inch radius, a 1 9/64ths inch (29mm) nut width and 13.9764 inch (355mm) scale length. Inlays are hand cut mother of pearl, the tuners are 15:1 ratio with antique nickel finish, and the tailpiece is engraved Apitius and is antiqued like the tuners.
The finish is beautiful, and is h hand applied vignette of Cremona Brown sealed with hand brushed oil finish, and is then French Polished.
This fantastic instrument is brand new and carries its full warranty from Apitius Mandolins. A rectangular custom fit TKL case is included.
