S/N: 9603, built during 1996 at Douglas Harrison's shop in Toronto.
Douglas Harrison is based in Toronto, and splits his time between building fine jazz guitars and repairing instruments at The Twelfth Fret. His most popular model is the GB Custom, originally built for the late Gary Benson. However, he builds a number of fully acoustic arch top guitars.
The fine example shown here was built during 1996 and featiures a full size, fully acoustic 17 inch body with hand-carved flame maple back and hand-carved spruce top. The sides are also flame maple, as is the three piece neck. The bound fingerboard and headplate are ebony, as are the bridge, finger-rest and tailpiece. A Bartolini neck-mount pickup is installed, with controls on the fingerboard.
This guitar is in very good condition with moderate fretwear - it has been played, and tonally has been opening up and it sounds quite good. The finish is slightly oxidized, and could likely be buffed up to gloss. The original Calton case is included.
