Today we're looking at a lovely 1980 ODE Style D Model 6500 5-String Banjo. ODE banjos were originally made in Boulder, Colorado by Chuck Ogsbury. In 1966, he sold the company to Baldwin, and operated by Gretsch, where it remained in the early 1980's, when Baldwin had to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy - because of their problems with their expansion into banking. Chuck Ogsbury now builds OME banjos.
The ODE Style D model 6500 banjo has a walnut neck and resonator, gold plated and engraved hardware, ebony fingerboard, capo tacks or spikes, Style D neck and peghead inlays, and a Gretch hard shell case - the Gretsch case is because Gretsch, under Baldwin, was running the ODE shop. This banjo is in good condition, with some minor wear on the back and light fretwear. The gold plating on the engraved armrest is somewhat worn through. Otherwise, the gold plating is in very good condition.
