The Yamaha SG2000 guitar was introduced in 1976; Yamaha collaborated with Carlos Santana to improve the Yamaha SG175. The result became the flagship of the Yamaha electric line until 1988.
The Yamaha SG2000 guitar features a mahogany body with a maple cap, a through-neck design with two pieces of mahogany laminated to a maple center block, and a brass sustain block connected to the tailpiece.
The SG2000 is known for sustain and thick tone, and the sustain components also add to clarity and separation between notes.
This example from 1978 is in all original condition. The gold hardware is tarniushed, as usually happens, and it shows some marks from use. The jumbo frets show very little wear and the guitar plays quite cleanly. The original case is included.
