Brand: Hagstrom
Instrument Categories: Electric, Guitars, SOLD, Solidbody
Between 1979 and 1983, about 1,500 Hagstrom Super Swede models were built in Alvaden, Sweden, as the top of Hagstrom’s electric solidbody lineup. The Super Swede features a single cutaway body with nearly all maple construction and a 25.5 inch scale length.
Hagstrom guitars were first imported to North America by the Hershman company in New York, but re-branded with the Goya name. Many of these featured pearloid finishes and pushbutton controls, showing a heavy influence from the accordions that Hagstrom also produced. More conventional designs took over by the late 1960’s.
This Hagstrom Super Swede has the serial number ’53 078106′ located on the metal output jack. The serial number breaks down this way: ’53’ is an internal accounting number, 078 is a batch number and 106 is the production number within the batch. While little precise information is available online, it’s known that batch 076 was completed around 1980, so we’re placing this guitar at around 1981.
This instrument is in overall good, original condition, with minor fret wear and little finish wear but a few minor dings. A non-original hardshell case is included.
