Brand: Alhambra
Instrument Categories: Classical and Flamenco, Guitars
When I visited the factory last fall I was introduced to the Alhambra Carlos Piñana 2F Flamenco guitar and the sister guitar: the Z-Nature Classical guitar and the new Open-Pore finish technique developed for these guitars.
Collaboration between the Alhambra Luthiers and Flamenco performer – teacher Carlos Piñana of Mucia City resulted in this remarkably professional sounding yet low-priced guitar.
Flamenco guitars are by design loud and clear with a hint of brashness which makes them ideally suited to the aggressive right hand attack of the Flamenco player; loud enough to be heard through the din of flamenco dancers in a Spanish coffee house.
Interestingly the clarity of these Flamenco guitars suit steel-string players make them superb fingerstyle guitars.
Built in solid cedar top with English Sycamore laminate back and sides, the unique compound-layered spruce top brace system is ultra-light and incredibly responsive. The thin, open-pore finish permits the top to speak more fully and contributes to increased volume of this fine instrument.
The 2F along with its’ sister guitar: the Z-Nature Classical guitar offer a quality of tone and volume one would expect of a guitar that is twice the price.
Here is the Alhambra video with Carlos Piñana.
