Comments | There aren’t a lot of these giant archtops around, especially ones that aren’t vintage pieces, so it’s a real treat to check out something like this 2006 Gibson L-5 CES Sunburst.
Gibson introduced the L-5 in 1922, and in 1951 it became the CES (Cutaway Electric Spanish) model, with two pickups and a Venetian cutaway. It’s been at the top of the heap in the archtop world since. This 2006 Gibson L-5 CES Sunburst is in great condition with minor play and fret wear. The L-5 Wes Montgomery model is based on this, just without the bridge pickup, volume and tone, and no pickup selector.
