| Comments | Here’s something relatively unusual – a 2009 Gretsch Anniversary 6117T-HT. This means it’s an Anniversary model, based on the venerable 6120 design, but with a sunburst finish, trestle bracing, and HiLo ‘Tron pickups.Gretsch introduced the Anniversary model in the 1958 to commemorate 75 years of operation. It was basically a stripped down 6120, with less decoration, sometimes less expensive hardware, and a lower price point. By the early 1960’s, the Anniversary model often had the new single coil, relatively low output HiLo ‘Tron pickups. This model, the G6117T-HT is a reproduction of these early 1960s models, and includes trestle bracing. This makes the guitar much more feedback resistant but doesn’t add a lot of weight. It also adds quite a bit of sustain and attack to the tone.
This model is still in production, and this 2009 example is in excellent condition with a few small scuffs on the back. |

| Body | This guitar is unusual. The Anniversary models use the same body design, dimensions and construction as the 6120, but with less decoration – in particular, the F-holes are not bound, but the body is laminated maple. Normally, Anniversary models have tone bar and soundpost bracing – this one has trestle bracing. This makes the guitar more feedback resistant and gives it a bit more attack, compared to the slightly rounder tone of the tone-bar models. |
